CALCULATION OF EMPIRICAL FORMULA :-

PERCENTAGE OF CARBON = MASS OF CARBON DIOXIDE CONTRIBUTED ÷MASS OF ORGANIC COMPOUND ×12÷44×100

PERCENTAGE OF HYDROGEN = MASS OF HYDROGEN ÷ ATOMIC MASS OF ORGANIC COMPOUND × 2.02÷18.02×100

MOLES OF CARBON = %OF CARBON ÷ATOMIC MASS OF CARBON

MOLES OF HYDROGEN =%OF HYDROGEN ÷ATOMIC MASS OF ORGANIC COMPOUND

MOLES OF OXYGEN =%OF OXYGEN ÷ ATOMIC MASS OF ORGANIC COMPOUND

SECOND STEP :-

FIND OUT SIMPLEST RATIO

METHOD OF FINDING SIMPLEST RATIO :-

DIVIDE NUMVBER OF MOLES OF EACH ELEMENT BY THE SMALLEST NUMBER OF MOLES .

NOW :-

IF RATIO IS NOT IN WHOLE NUMBER THEN :-
