Various traditional and modern methods have been used for irrigation
Traditional method:
These methods are used by human labour or cattle for lifting water to the field.
The water from the canals, walls or lakes is brought to the field for the purpose of irrigation. example: meat, dhekli, rahat, chain pump etc.
Modern method:
Modern method of irrigation include sprinkler system and drip system.
In sprinkler system water is sprinkled on the crops evenly as if it is raining.
In drip system water is made to fall drop by drop at the position of the roots, this is very effective.
Irrigation is very important to maintain the level of water in the soil required for the proper growth of crops and save from wastes of water.
