Michael finished colouring a picture in hour. Vaibhav finished colouring another picture in hour. (i) Who worked longer? By what fraction was it longer? (ii) Both of them (Michael and Vaibhav) frames and sells the pictures at ₹990 each and thereby gains 10% and loses 10% respectively. What is the difference of their cost prices?​

Let's compare the fractions and decide which one is larger.

Time is taken by Michael = 7/12 hour

Time is taken by Vaibhav = 3/4 hour

= (3×3) / (4×3) (converting into like fractions)

= 9/12 hour

Since, 9/12 > 7/12

Therefore, Vaibhav worked for longer.

Difference = 9/12 − 7/12

= 2/12

= 1/6 hour

Thus, Vaibhav took 1/6 hour more than Michael.
