Michael had a certain amount with him he spent 2/9 of the amount to purchase school books he spend 1/4 of the remaining amount on his school dress. find what fraction of the amount he had in the beginning he has left with him​

Solution :

Let the total amount be x

Michael spent on school books = (2/9) × x

= 2x/9

Remaining amount = x - 2x/9

(9x - 2x) / 9

= 7x/9

He spent on school dress = 1/4 × 7x/9

= 7x/36

Money left with him = 7x/9 - 7x/36

= (28x - 7x) / 36

= 21x/36

Hence total money left with him = 21x/36
