Michael is 6 times as old as his daughter Laura. In 15 years of time, Michael will be 3 times as old as Laura . Find their present ages

Let the present age of Laura be 'x' years

Hence age of Michael = 6x yrs

AFTER 15 YEARS

age of Laura = (x+15) yrs

age of Michael = (6x+15) yrs

But we are given that age of Michael is 3 time that of Laura

Hence we can say that,

3(x+15) = 6x+15

3x+45 = 6x+15

3x = 30

x = 10

Hence their present ages are

Laura is 10 yrs old

Michael is 60 yrs old
