Given : Michael uses a blend of dark chocolate and milk chocolate to make that ice cream topping at his restaurant .

To find :  an equation that represents the situation

Solution:

number of kilograms of dark chocolate bought =  d kg

dark chocolate cost   = $12 per kg

Cost of Dark chocolate = 12d  $

number of kilograms of Milk chocolate bought =  m kg

Milk chocolate cost   = $10 per kg

Cost of Milk  chocolate = 10m  $

Total Cost  = 12d + 10m $

Total Cost  = $ 1120

=> 12d   + 10m   = 1120

Total Chocolate bought = 100 kg

=> d + m  = 100

12d   + 10m   = 1120

 d + m  = 100

equation that represents the situation

12d + 10m = 1120

10d  + 10m  = 1000

=> 2d  = 120

=> d = 60

& m = 40

Dark chocolate = 60 kg   & Milk Chocolate = 40 kg
