Microbiology question:
I need some help with my college homework question. Not sure how to figure out how many cells. I did 100x2^12 and got 409600 cells as my answer. But I don't know if I am doing it right.
There is a starting population of 100 cells, and the generation time for that species is 20 minutes. How many cells would you have at 4 hours?

Hey, I'm good in solving this type of microbiology questions.
Starting population of cells = 100 cells
The species of cells can make their population of regeneration timing is = 20 minutes , which means for 100 cells they take 20 minutes for doing their population.
So, in 1 hr = 3 times of 20 minutes
= 3 × 100 cells = 300 cells.
Therefore, in 4 hr = 4 × 300 cells = 1200 cells. ( Ans )
