▪Microorganisms are so hardy because of the following reasons: -

1) They are unicellular organisms and can grow in any kind of environment.

2) They grow at a very high rate. A single organism can multiply to form millions of cells in very short time.

3)They have rigid cell walls which protect them.

4) Some of them form spores. These are resistant to drying and heat. So microbes can survive through these.

Microorganisms can survive under all type of environment , ranging from cold climate to hot springs and even in marcy lands. Most of the microorganisms have a protective layer which is called cyst . This protective layer protects them (microorganisms) from real harsh conditions .

If there will be no O2 then they will perform anaerobic or antibiotic respiration to survive .
