microorganisms are found even in places where no other life forms can exist. what makes microorganisms so hardly?

Most of the microorganisms have a special protective layer called cyst which protects them from real harsh conditions.
Now if there is no oxygen then they perform anoxybiotic (anaerobic) respiration to survive.
