Microsporogenisis is the formation of Pollen Grains.

  • Generally, anther is tetrasporangiate, i.e., four microsporangiate situated at four corners.

  • Each sporangiate consists bunch of parenchymatous cells termed as Sporangium tissue.

  • The primary sporogenous cells form diploid microspore mother cells.

  • Further, microspore mother cells undergo meiosis to form haploid microspores. They get arranged in form of a tetrad.

  • Microspores develop into Pollen Grains on attaining maturity.

  • At the time of dehiscence, the ephemeral middle layer walls breaks down releasing the pollen grains.
