Midnight Blood samples:

Midnight blood samples are collected from a patient to conform the infection in lymphatic filariasis. The small microfilariae (the baby filarial worms, the adults are called filaria and they reside in the lymphatic nodes) swim in the peripheral blood stream at night.

This phenomenon is call nocturnal periodicity which is the circadian rhythm of filarial worms. Collecting blood samples at midnight increases the chances of detecting these microfilariae and confirms the status of an infection.
