Mike is 4 years older than Sam and Joe is 2 years younger than Sam. If the sum of theirs ages is 41, how old will Mike be in 8 years’ time?

To Find :-

• How old will Mike be in 8 years’ time ?

Solution :-

Let us assume that, Present age of Sam is x years.

so,

→ Mike present age = Sam + 4 = (x + 4) years.

and,

→ Joe present age = Sam - 2 = (x - 2) years.

A/q,

→ Sam + Mike + Joe = 41

→ x + (x + 4) + (x - 2) = 41

→ 3x + 2 = 41

→ 3x = 41 - 2

→ 3x = 39

→ x = 13 years.

therefore,

→ Mike age in next years will be = Present age of mike + 8 = (x + 4) + 8 = x + 12 = 13 + 12 = 25 years. (Ans.)
