Mike was a contractor who was carrying out repair works at Ben's house. The repair
works involved some loud drilling which carried on for 6 months and affected Ben's
next door neighour, Salmah, an artist, who worked from home. This effect was so bad,
that Salmah had missed the deadline on a particularly lucrative commission. Salmah
was so upset by this that she told her friends that Ben was an insensitive and selfish
man who had as much consideration as a Neanderthal.
Close to the end of the renovations, Mike needed to install the wiring for the lighting
but while doing so, he left the live wires exposed. His employee, Nick brushed by the
wires as he did not realise this and was electrocuted. Nick suffered electric burns to is
legs.
Advise Ben, Salmah and Nick on the claims that can be brought against them in the
Law of Tort.
