Given :-

  • Miki has 104 nickels and 88 dimes.
  • She wants to divide her coins into groups where each group has the same number of nickels and the same number of dimes.

To Find :-

What is the largest number of groups she can have ?

A. 13

B. 11

C. 8

D. 4

Solution :-

To find the largest number of group that has same number of nickels and the same number of dimes , we have to find Highest common factor (HCF) of given number of nickels and dimes..

So,

Prime factors of 104 and 88 :-

→ 104 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 13

→ 88 = 2 * 2 * 2 * 11

→ HCF( Common Factors of Both) = 2 * 2 * 2 = 8 .

Therefore, the largest number of groups she can have is 8.
