HOLA friend!!
Rajdeep here....

What are the military causes for the First War of Independence in India, 1857?

1. The General Service Enlishment Act, 1856: According to this act, Bengal army could be asked to serve anywhere, whether in India or outside.

2. Faulty distribution of troops: There were more Indian troops than British troops; Lord Dalhousie contacted his hometown to send more British troops to India, and this resulted in a mess between the Indians and the British.

3. All the advanced artillery, guns, rifles, ammunitions, etc, were in the hands of the British; Indian soldiers were subject to humiliation.

4. The maximum salary of an Indian soldier was the minimum salary of a British soldier.

5. The Indian soldiers could only rise to the rank of a Subedar.

6. Introduction of Enfield rifles in place of Brown Bess guns (the immediate cause): In Barrackpore, a Brahmin soldier, Mangal Pandey, refuse to cut the cartridge of an enfield rifle because there was a rumour that it was greased with the fact of cows and pigs. Cows is sacred for the Hindus and for Muslims, pig is considered unclean. Hence, this resulted in the start of a War.

Hope my answer is satisfactory!
Thanks....
