Military tank has catapillar wheels because by using catapillar wheels it can reduce the friction and the tank will hold itself in any downhill condition . Tank's wheel could get punctured. It has Large area of surface due and tyre could not get punctured due to which it can easily move on worst roads , hills etc.

Military tanks have caterpillar wheels as they increase the area in contact with the ground, thus reducing the pressure exerted by the military tanks on the ground. As they are already very heavy, reducing the pressure on the ground will prevent them from sinking into the ground.
