Ravi walks each day= (24–9)=15- hours. So he walks (40 X 15)= 600- hours at a speed of X- Km/ h.

So the distance travelled= 600X- Kms.

When he takes twice the rest , ie he takes 18- hours rest and travels (24–18)= 6- hours/ day. Now the speed doubles. So the speed becomes=2X.

So the distance travelled in 1- day =6x2X= 12X

So number of days required to travel double the distance

=2 x600X/12X

= 100- days.
