Millets are yhe grains that are used to be popular in India years ago. However, after the green revolution, they gave way to wheat and rice. There is a growing understanding that overemphasis on wheat and rice and the extensive use of fertilizers and pesticides to increase their yield has damaged the soil and also affected the health of farmers using them. In this scenario, millets are poised to make a comeback due to their many advantages, for example, higher nutritional content than wheat and rice.Find out :-which grains are termed millets? , What other advantages do they offer because of which they are set to replace wheat and rice in a big way?

Ans.

Millets are defined as a group of grasses that include small seeded forage grasses and annual cereals.  Pearl millet, sorghum, finger millet, and foxtail millet are examples of millet. They contain higher nutritional value than rice and wheat.

Other advantages offered by millets, to replace rice and wheat are:

-Millets show a short growing season and can grow at high-temperature and dry conditions.

-Milets are rich in magnesium that helps in starch digestion, thus they lower the risk of diabetes. Millets also help to fight heart and gallbladder diseases.

-Millets have nutritional value same as present in vegetables and fruits.
