it is to measure the radius,diameter with the sharp points of the two

rods of the divider.the first end is kept on the radius or diameterthe second end is placed on the end of the radius  or the diameter.and then the measure we got by dividing the divider will be put on the scale ,the two ends get measured by putting the two ends on the scale..

because of the sharp points its will give an accurate measure than measuring directly with a compass and a pencil.
