(Xylem tissues are in the form of capillary
tubes, where narrower the diameter, greater
is the force of movement of water molecules
upwards. Whenever the xylem vessels lie
empty, such as during the loss of water by
transpiration, the water from below rises into
them by a capillary force. Water molecules
are pulled up due to their tendency of
remaining joined together (cohesion) and
stick to the sides of the xylem vessels
(adhesion).

Answer:

It is how water from the soil is transported to plants.

Explanation:

  • In the paragraph, Xylem tissues are correlated with capillary tubes.
  • Capillary tubes are thin in diameter and help in the transportation of oxygen and nutrients to different organs and tissues from the blood.
  • Similarly, Xylem tissues help in the movement of water where the thinner the tissue diameter greater the movement of water.
  • In case of loss of water, Xylem vessels can help by transporting water from below by capillary force.
  • Water molecules have cohesion ability which makes it easier to go up for transportation.
