Question :- Minimum value of sin 2x - √3cos 2x is = ?

Solution :-

We know that, minimum value of a*sinA + b*cosA is given by :- (-1)√(a² + b²)

So,

comparing sin(2x) - √3cos(2x) with a*sinA + b*cosA we get,

  • a = 1
  • b = √3

Therefore,

Minimum value of sin(2x) - √3cos(2x) = (-1)√(a² + b²)

Putting values we get,

Minimum value = (-1)√{1² + (√3)²}

→ Minimum value = (-1)√(1 + 3)

→ Minimum value = (-1)√(4)

→ Minimum value = (-1) * 2

→ Minimum value = (-2) (Ans.)

Hence, Minimum value of sin 2x - √3cos 2x is (-2).
