Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

Minnu bought 8 notebooks of the same price and a pen from the school store and paid 223 rupees chinnu bought 10 notebooks of the same kind and a pen she paid 275 rupees.

To find :-

Find the cost of one notebook ?

Solution :-

Let the cost of 1 note book be Rs. X

Let the cost of 1 pen be Rs. Y

Given that

The cost of 8 note books and a pen = Rs. 223

=> 8X + Y = 223 ----------(1)

The cost of 10 note books and a pen = Rs. 275

=> 10X + Y = 275 ---------(2)

On subtracting (1) from (2) then

10X+Y = 275

8X+Y = 223

(-)

___________

2X+0 = 52

___________

=> 2X = 52

=> X = 52/2

=> X = 26

Therefore, The cost of 1 note book = Rs. 26

On substituting the value of X in (1) then

=> 8(26)+Y = 223

=> 208+Y = 223

=> Y = 223-208

=> Y = 15

Therefore, The cost of 1 pen = Rs. 15

Answer:-

The cost of one note book is Rs. 26

Check :-

If X = 26 and Y = 15 then

8(26)+15 = 208+15 = 223

and

10(26)+15 = 260+15 = 275

Verified the given relations in the given problem.
