ANSWER:

(iii) Bengal

EXPLANATION:

Mir Jafar was Bengal’s first Nawab under the influence of British. Mir an Arab, rose to supremacy in the Nawab Sirajuddullah army and in the 1757 Battle of Plassey he plotted with the British to overthrow Sirajuddullah so that he could become the Nawab. Mir had covertly made a deal with the British to depose Sirajuddullah in return of the assurance that he would be made Bengal’s Nawab.

The British force under Robert Clive marched to Murshidabad and met Sirajuddullah in the 1756 Battle of Plassey. Mir’s army deceived Sirajuddullah by not fighting for Siraj and Siraj was overpowered and killed, after which Mir Jafar was crowned as the Nawab of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa.
