Then, the present age of Mira will be 2x

The age of Sonu = x - 8

The age of Mira = 2x - 8

⟼ 2x - 8 = 6x - 48

⟼ 2x - 6x = -48 + 8

⟼ -4x = -40

⟼ x = 40/4

⟼ x = 10

Therefore,

Present age of Sonu = x = 10years

Present age of Mira = 2x = 2 × 10 = 20years

Hence, their present ages are 10 and 20 years respectively.
