Meerabai is a mystical poetess, singer and saint of sixteenth century.

She composed between 200 to 1300 devotional songs known as Bhajans.

Her Bhajans are in Bhakti tradition, and passionately praised Lord Krishna.

She was a disciple of Shri Guru Ravidas.

She considered Lord Krishna as her lover and Husband. She was a Rajput girl born in an Aristocrat family. At the age of six her mother gave her an idol of Lord Krishna, with which she always played and talked. She got married to a Rajput prince, Raja Bhoj but she was so devoted to Lord Krishna that she neglected her duties towards her husband. This behaviour of hers was not appreciated by her husband and his family. She devoted her whole life in worshipping and loving Lord Krishna. She was a follower of Saguna class of worshippers of Brahman.
