The correct answer is option D) Refraction of light and total internal reflection of light.
Mirage is a phenomenon where light rays bend and produce a displaced image of distant objects.
Mirage is formed when temperature goes on decreasing as we go up in the atmosphere. Therefore, density and refractive indices also change. As a result, rays of light get refracted and when a particular angle exceeds the critical angle, total internal reflection takes place. Therefore, we see and inverted image of, for example a tree in a pond of water.
