Mrs.Mebbin was a paid companion to Mrs.Packletide. She was a pretentious lady who enacted as a protective elder sister but in true sense she was a mercenary.

During the tiger hunt, she constantly nagged Mrs.Packletide and commented on trivial expenses made for the hunt.

Mebbin's only concern was to pocket the money that was meant for the villagers in exchange of hunting.

In past days, she didn't even give tip to the waiters at hotel even if Mrs.Packletide asked to do so.

Also, she bought the cheapest goat for the tiger hunt, for tiger's prey.

This all shows that she just loved the money.
