Mitochondria are able to produce their own proteins.

Explanation:

  • Mitochondria is a cell organelle present in eukaryotes which is bound by double membrane.
  • Mitochondria is known as the ‘power house’ of the cell. Mitochondria has DNA, also it has ribosome in it.
  • The DNA is converted into RNA by the ‘process of transcription’ by using RNA DEPENDANT DNA POLYMERASE.
  • RNA is then converted into protein by using the ribosome inside the mitochondria of the cell. Hence ribosome can produce their own protein.
  • Mitochondria is also used in the aerobic mode of respiration to produce ATP.
