mitochondria have its own dna and protein and surrounded by double membrane. So it is called strange organelle. These features are also available in nucleus and plastids so why they are not called so.....

Both mitochondria and plastids are known as strange organelles as they have their own DNA and ribosomes. Thus replicate independent of nucleus and synthesise their
own proteins. However, mitochondria is present in all eukaryotic cells while as plastids are present only in plant cells.

Mitochondria has its own nucleus and DNA but none other plastids have nucleus.
