Explanation:

Mitochondria is Semi Autonomous in Nature:-

Semi autonomous - This means any substance having its own identity is called semi autonomous in nature.

True, Mitochondria is semi Autonomous as it has it's own characteristics. What makes it unique is

  • It has and created it's own DNA or Deoxyribonucleic Acid.
  • We know that Cells itself are made up of cell Organelles and controlled by Nucleus ( Also called as Captain of the Cell)
  • But, Mitochondria do posses it's own Nucleus
  • But also, it gets controlled by the cell in which it is present.

Mitochondria and its Varying Noteworthiness:-

  • Mitochondria is also called as Powerhouse of the cell due to some reasons
  • Actually it is the site where ATP molecules break down to produce energy
  • It is also important for respiration of any organism.
  • As stated above it is semi Autonomous.

Other semi autonomous Organelle - Chloroplast ( Same characteristic as Mitochondria, only difference is it is found only in Plants while Mitochondria is present both in Plants and Animals.)
