Mitochondria is a double membrane bound organelle. The inner membrane divides the lumen of the mitochondria into two compartments . The inner is called the matrix while the outer compartment is known as the perimitochondrial space. The inner membrane has infoldings called cristae which increase the surface area. On these cristae oxysomes are present. The mitochondria helps in respiration. It is the site for the process of ATP synthesis which is also called oxidative phosphorylation.Other components of the mitochondria include a single circular DNA molecule, a few RNA molecules, ribosome (70S), and the other components required for synthesis of protein. The mitochondria is semi-autonomous and divides by fission.

Hope this helps ;)
