Mitosis is a process of asexual reproduction in which the cell divides in two producing a replica, with an equal number of chromosomes in each resulting diploid cell.

Meiosis is a type of cellular reproduction in which the number of chromosomes are reduced by half through the separation of homologous chromosomes, producing two haploid cells.

# Mitosis -

  1. Genetically identical daughter cells are produced.
  2. Occurs in somatic cells.
  3. Involves only 1 division.
  4. Also called diploid division.
  5. Crossing over doesn't occur.
  6. It is required for growth and repair of body

# Meiosis -

  1. Genetically different daughter cells are produced.
  2. Occurs in germ cells.
  3. Involves 2 divisions.
  4. Also called haploid division.
  5. Crossing over occur.
  6. It is involved in formation of gametes

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..
