Germ cells multiply by mitotic division and forms SPERMATOGONIA.
And in oogenesis the OOGONIA multiply mitotically and forms 1° oocytes .In the growth phase of spermatogenesis spermatogonia accumulates or collects nutrients and chromatin and now it is called 1° Spermatogonium .
Now in maturation phase 2° spermatocytes passes meiotic and produce sperms .
In maturation phase of oogensis the division is quite different from meiotic division of spermatocytes.
