Answer:· 3 litre of a mixture of propane and butane on complete combustion at 25 degree celsius produced 10 litre of carbon dioxide.

Explanation: Propane-

C3H8 + 5O2 --> 3CO2 + 4H2O

3 liters of propane would produce 9 liters of CO2 (3 x 3 = 9)

Butane-

C4H10 + 6.5O2 ---> 4CO2 + 5H2O

3 liters of butane would produce 12 liters of CO2 (3 x 4 = 12)

Liters of propane = X

Liters of butane = Y

X + Y = 3

3X + 4Y = 10

Solve 2 simultaneous equations to get-

Y = 1

2 mole propane and 1 mole butane

Aswer: b) 1 L
