it can be separated by dissolving the mixture in Carbon disulphide ( CS2).
This method is preferred because sulphur gets dissolved in the CS2 and sand is insoluble which can be obtained by filtering the whole mixture. To get sulphur you dont need to anything because after some time carbon disulphode will gradually evaporate in atmosphere leaving sulphur in beaker.
