Ingress Protection

1. What is Ingress Protection?

A: Ingress protection testing is used to determine if a product's exterior case will protect the working parts from dust, water or intrusion. IP testing should be performed at an accredited test laboratory.

2. Definition number of IP rating.

A: IP ratings are called out in the test standard known as IEC 60529. The protection rating is displayed by the letters "IP" followed by two numbers. The first digit indicates the level of protection from solid ingress and the second digit represents the level of protection from liquid ingress. e.g. IP 2 3
