Amoeba are unicellular organisms that feed on bacteria and algae. They take in food by the process of endocytosis by extension of their cytoplasm around the food particle and ingest it along with the drop of water. Food is taken into the food vacuole where digestive enzyme is released by the cytoplasm. Food is digested and nutrients are extracted from it and undigested food is expelled out of amoeba.
