A Vaucheria can also reproduce asexually via akinetes or large, multinucleate aplanospores. During sexual reproduction, antheridia produce numerous colorless uninucleate sperm, while oogonia each develop a single uninucleate egg. These reproductive structures may develop on special branches or on the main thallus.
