The causal agent of jaundice is hepatitis virus which is transmitted through contaminated food and water.

There are two types of Hepatitis virus:---

1. Hepatitis A is spread mostly by contaminated food and water.
2. Hepatitis B is transmitted by contact with infected body .

Being a communicable disease, any
person who has jaundice can transfer unknowingly. For eg, if you take food from an infected person hands,  you can get the infection through the food.  So, proper hygiene has to be maintained , especially after a visit to the bathroom.
