⭐The modifications of roots are:

✔1.STORAGE ROOT:
Primary roots modifies to store food and assumes different shapes. E.G: Tap root of carrot, radish, turnip,beet and adventitious roots of sweet potato get swollen and stores food.

✔2.RESPIRATORY ROOTS:
In some plants such as Rhizophora, many roots come out of the ground vertically to get oxygen for respiration. Such rpots are called pneumatophores.

✔3.PROP ROOTS:
These roots arises from the branches of stem for providing protection to the heavy branches pillars. E.G: Banyan.

✔4. STILT ROOTS:
These roots arises from the lower nodes of stem and provides support to the main plant axis and enters the soil obliquely. E.G: Sugarcane, Maize, etc.

=Some rootsperform special functions. As such, their form and structure differs from those of normal roots. Modified rootsmay be underground or aerial.
