Modulus of elasticity = compressive stress/ strain ?

Modulus of elasticity means the ratio of applied stress on a body to its strain. That is, it is the measure of resistance of a body to being deformed elastically  corresponds to the tensile stress. It basically describes the opposing stress along the axis of the object. So it is tensile.

Therefore, modulus of elasticity=Tensile stress/ Strain= (Fl)/(AΔl)
