Qutubuddin aybak (starter of slave dynasty) was Mohammad Ghori's general (earier, sultans kept slaves at high posts). So, when ghori died, Qutubuddin became the ruler. Then, Iltutmish (Qutubuddin's son-in-law) became ruler. Afterwards, Iltutmish thought her daughter (Raziyya) was able to be a good ruler, he made her the ruler.
