One of the most remarkable rulers of during his time Muhammad bin Tughlaq. He is known for some of his plans and policies that have failed catastrophically over time.

EXPLANATION:

There were no successful administrative measures. He was disastrous in his military campaign in Kashmir. The citizens forced to move to Daulatabad were angered by the Sultan's actions. There were several revolts arising from the increase in tax in the Ganga and Yamuna regions. He eventually had to give up the token currency too.

Shifting of Capital

Muhammad bin Tughlaq transferred his capital from Delhi to Daulatabad. Delhi and other key places were equidistant from Daulatabad which was centrally located. Daulatabad seemed to be secure from future possible Mongol attacks because Delhi was within the control of the Mongols. Sans the king, Delhi became prone to the Mongol attacks. Later, Muhammad bin Tughlaq had again moved his capital back to Delhi.

Token Currency

The sultan was driven to make copper coins of equal value as that of silver because of the shortage of silver and an abundance of copper and bronze metal. However, the new coins of copper with the same value as the silver coin had no complex design and could be forged with ease. People in their homes began to mint coins. The coins of mined copper inundated the markets. When the merchant and dealer refused to accept these coins, the situation became worse. Economy came to a standstill silence. Muhammad bin Tughlaq, recognizing his folly, issued genuine silver coins instead of coins of copper. This drained the king's treasure further

Taxation in Doab

Doab is a strong alluvial route between the Ganga and the Yamuna rivers. In the Doab area, Muhammad Tughlaq increased the taxes because they needed money to raise a large military. The higher taxes coincided with the region's extreme famine. But no proof of kindness and the relentless collection of taxes showed the tax collectors. Later, Tughlaq ordered several relief measures but these came too late.

Plan of Conquests

The goal of Muhammad bin was to conquer the world. He then assembled a strong army and paying them a full-year wage ahead of time. He agreed that Khurasan, Persia and Iraq would be conquered. But he abandoned the project and disbanded the army because of financial pressures after Doab's lack of taxation and the token currency.
