Mohan covers a certain distance from his car in 12 hours at a uniform speed. When the speed is increased by 5 kmph, the same distance can be covered in 9 hours. What is the total distance ?​

• distance covered in 12hrs = 12x....(1)
• when speed is increased by 5kmph new speed = x+5
• distance covered in 9 hrs = 9(x+5)....(2)

Distance covered in both cases is same

12x = 9(x+5)

12x= 9x+45

3x= 45

x= 15

speed = 15 kmph

put this value of x in (1)

distance = 180km
