The percentage of water present in the mixture is 24.8%

Step-by-step explanation:

If a trader professes to sell his goods at cost price , but uses false weights then

gain % = \frac{error}{true value - error} \times 100

here gain % = 33.3 %

error = quantity of water he mixes in the milk = x

true value = true quantity of milk = T

so the formula

33.3 = \frac{x}{T-x} \times 100

\frac{33.3}{100} = \frac{x}{T-x}

0.33 = \frac{x}{T-x }

0.33(T-x) = x

0.33T - 0.33x = x

0.33T = x+ 0.33x

0.33T = 1.33x

T = \frac{1.33}{0.33} \times x

T = 4.03x

percentage of water in the mixture = \frac{x}{T} \times 100

= \frac{x}{4.03x}\times 100

= \frac{100}{4.03}

= 24.8 %

hence ,

The percentage of water present in the mixture is 24.8%
