Hi,
Here's the solution :-
According to question,
The shopkeeper didn't have to pay a certain amount of GST to government.
This shows that price of clothes was actually increased.
Let the money of the clothes without GST be x.
So,
x + 12% of x = Rs.1680
=> x(1 + 12/100) = Rs.1680
=> x(28/25) = Rs.1680
=> x = Rs.1680 x 25/28 = Rs.1500
So,
Amount of GST =
12% of x
= Rs.1680 - x
= Rs.1680 - Rs.1500
= Rs. 180
I hope that it is clear ^_^

Selling price including GST = ₹1680
Find the percentage of the selling price:
GST = 12%
Selling Price = 100 + 12 = 112%
Find the GST:
Selling price = 112%
Selling price = ₹1680
112% = ₹1680
1% = 1680 ÷ 112 = ₹15
12% = 15 x 12 = ₹180
Answer: The GST was ₹180
