Mohit along with his sister Komal were going by car from Chandigarh to Amritsar on a
highway. While Mohit was driving at the rate of 72 kmh-1, Komal observed that a loaded
truck 51 m ahead of them had applied the brakes to come to a halt. She immediately asked
her brother to apply the brakes. Mohit did the same and by the time car stopped, the truck
was 1m ahead of the car. (2*1)
(a) What distance did the car initially cover in 1s?
(b) Find the acceleration of the car when the brakes were applied.

Petrol required to cover 210 km = 15 lit

Petrol required to cover 1 km = 15/210 lit = 1/14 lit

Petrol required to cover 406 km = (1/14) x 406 lit = 406/14 lit = 29 lit

Answer - 29 litre
