Mohit, as well as his friends _won the competition. (has/ have).
According to use of 'as well as' and there should be "has" since we use verbs according to the first subject.
But there is misconception that there is plural near to blank so, we would use have.
Please let me know why.

Answer:
When a singular nominative (noun or pronoun) is joined to another noun or pronoun by with ,as well as, besides, and not ,together with, no less than, the verb is singular and also in the sentence mohit is the subject and it is singular so you should use has.
