Mohit makes 8 full rounds of a rectangular field with length - 120 m and breadth = 75 m.
John makes 10 full rounds of a square field with each side 100 m. Find who covers larger
distance and by how much ?

Answer:

Perimeter of the rectangular field = (120 + 120) + (75 + 75)

                                                        = 240 + 150

                                                        = 390 meters

390 X 8 = 3120 meters. This means that Mohit covers a distance of 3120 meters.

Now, let's find John's distance covered.

Perimeter of the square = 100 X 4

                                        = 400 meters

400 X 10 = 4000 meters. This means that John covers a distance of 4000 meters.

4000 - 3120 = 880 meters

Therefore, John covers a larger distance and by 880 meters.

Now, let's do your second question : The length of a rectangle is twice of its breadth. If its perimeter is 60  run during this period,  15 complete rounds in -

Let's take the breadth of the rectangle as 'x'.

Length of the rectangle = 2x

Perimeter of the rectangle = (2x + 2x) + (x + x)

                                            = 4x + 2x

                                            = 6x

As we already know that the perimeter of the rectangle is 60 meters, then the value of 'x' will be :

60 ÷ 6 = 10 meters

Therefore, the breadth of the rectangle is 10 meters, and the length of the rectangle is 10 X 2 = 20 meters.

1 round = 60 meters

15 rounds = 60 X 15

                 = 900 meters

Therefore, 15 rounds will be completed in 900 meters.
