Because In preparation of ammonia in laboratory NH4Cl and Ca(OH)2 is used in ratio of 2:3 by weight...
and when ammonia is formed it is collected by downward displacement of air..and we know that air contains moisture so ammonia absorb some moisture and become wet..so we use quick lime as a drying agent to remove moisture from ammonia..then dry ammonia gas is collected..in container..for further use..
